Walk Your Way to a Better Life

In the walk of life, there are many things we want to accomplish. You may hope to go backpacking around Europe, go rock climbing up Mount Everest, or visit the garden paradise of Kauai one day. Of course, in order to do any of those things, you need to be in good shape and health. We want to share the wonders that walking can do for you and your health, so that you will never fall victim to poor health and its’ limitations on life.

The benefits of walking are truly endless. Recent studies have proven that walking for exercise every day leads to a longer life span of (on average) 1.3 years! It also keeps the fat away, and increases your metabolism so that your body will have more energy and burn more calories. Walking is less strenuous than other exercises, so you can incorporate it into your day whenever you have a couple minutes to spare. And of course, walking will save you plenty of money in drugs and medical bills later on. 30 minutes a day of mild exercise will lower your chances of cardiovascular disease, lower your blood pressure, and reduce the risk of diabetes and other body ailments in the future. 30 minutes of walking a day to prevent thousands of dollars in medical costs, painful joints, arthritis, obesity, and other health problems? Sounds like a great deal to me.

Of course, there is a right way to do your walking. Make sure you have comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothing. Clothing made with rubber, in particular, should be avoided because it prevents sweat from evaporating and will leave you sticky and hot. If you’re running at night, wear neon or reflective clothing so vehicles can see you on the road. And finally, make sure you warm up and stretch before each stroll!

There are always unforeseen road bumps in the walk of life- let’s make sure your health is never one of them, by walking your way to a longer life now!
