Keep Cool During the 2009 Summer
Posted by Arnold Yu July 09, 2009.
With this hot weather, it’s the perfect time to take up swimming, which I consider to be the “perfect summer sport.”
First, swimming incorporates every single major muscle of the body. Whether it’s the breast stroke, the butterfly, or the freestyle, a swimmer is practicing resistance training and aerobic exercise simultaneously. And the best part is that, since the human body and water have a similar density, the water supports the body and places less stress on the swimmer’s bones and joints. Swimming is, quite literally, stress-free!
Also, swimming is also the most versatile of sports because it can be used recreationally, occupationally, and competitively. Beaches, resorts, and swimming pools are where most people swim and relax. Swimming is used occupationally by marine biologists, divers, and lifeguards. And of course, competitive swimmers participate in competitions like the Olympics.
Finally, especially in this weather, everyone can use some H20 to cool themselves down. Raging Waters and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor are among the summer theme park favorites because the only way to have fun during this heat is to get wet!
Take up swimming this summer, and see for yourself how great it is. You’ll forget all about the summer heat, and the only thing “hot” about summer will be how good you look!
